About the Art
The concept for Cowboy Tears draws heavily from the Marlboro Man—a manufactured cowboy myth used to firstly sell a product, but more importantly a lifestyle. This iconic figure, once a rugged laborer, was transformed into a romantic symbol of American masculinity. Cowboy Tears is both a nod to and critique of this mythmaking: a coffee that tastes like rugged freedom, brewed with nostalgia and a hint of grief.
About the Artist
Our society is shaped—and often governed—by the products we consume and the icons we idolize. Drillo is a conceptual company I created to examine this dynamic, brought to life through paintings, drawings, and sculptural works that serve as promotional material for a fictional corporation. Through Drillo, I explore the absurdity and power of corporate influence, asking viewers to consider their willing and unwilling roles in these systems.
